We want to make profits by tackling the problems associated with indoor pollution.
By making an innovated product that will heat and cook simultaneously for the same amount of Gas being used.
The impact our product aims at is to lower indoor pollution while still being easy to use and cost effective.
LPG gas is one of the cleanest conventional fuels available. It is non-toxic and has no impact on soil, water and underground aquifers. It also helps to improve the quality of indoor and outdoor air, as it produces substantially less particulate matter and NOX than diesel,oil, wood or coal. (50% less then coal according the World Gas associations.)

The problem:

With area coverage of 1,564,116 sq. Km and a population of 3,133,318 million people, Mongolia is said to be the least densely populated country in the world yet really still struggling with pollution as a result of burning large quantities of coal which has ranked Ulaanbaatar the 2nd most polluted capital city in the world. With a seven month long winter season from October to April, the reliance on coal heating has brought about the aforementioned pollution problem besides many other problems. Today, its free-market economy is beginning to grow. (Byamba JigJid) The Mongolian government and parliament have prioritized with the development of infrastructure and Social welfare. This will play a significant role in sustainable development of the economy, eradication of poverty, unemployment, and development of business activity. With the intense use of coal and wood, a lot of time is spent getting and using fuel. Whether in the countryside or in the city, in Mongolia, heat is a matter of survival and some people go to extremes; breaking the law and even risking their lives by stealing coal. The burning of coal inside the ger area dwellings releases indoor pollution this leads to many diseases and health complication for the households (see image below). Health complications leads to less work productivity and children having more sick days from school, and moreover higher health cost. Currently 1 in 10 deaths according to the Guardian is related to cheap stoves used in the ger area.

The impact of that problem:

Mongolia is attempting to get to grips with its huge environmental and energy problems, but Mongolian’s cannot do without heat. In the country where people heat mainly with coal, while the capital has numerous decentralized heating power stations. These are mainly fired with domestic brown coal and equipped with antiquated boilers thereby generating energy with poor efficiency and high emissions.
Currently the country uses harmful, unclean energy with 73% of the entire country population using coal heating, less than 30% using electricity which is not affordable to all. With people’s problems intensifying, this calls for the government and the private sector to come up with a better clean energy and heating system. The current health cost of the whole country is about 450 million US$, we GTK plans to be the solution. Gear Khoroolol Tusup(GKT) Gas heating & cooking company with its name coined from Mongolian words which in English mean ‘Gear neighborhood heating’ is an gas heating innovations company that has decided to venture into Mongolia to basically provide ‘Gas heating system’, to the people of the Gear area. With the production and distribution of LPG gas in 30Kg cylinder together with our innovative portable gas heaters/cookers, GKT seeks to support government’s role in reducing pollution, reduce respiratory health diseases and improve lives of the big chunk of the poorest people in the Gear areas of Mongolia.
